I was curious to see how you felt about the movie because it was recommended to me by a friend and so I had hopes for it but... I absolutely hated it. By far, one of the worst movies I"ve seen. They needed Dani to need a family and lose hers. But the way they went about it could have been so much better. Because this sister who we have to assume that Dani was close to (showed nothing of her family relationship before their deaths, except the fact that she worried about her sister and only messaged her through like, email? Facebook? How close were they then? Made me care very little about that dynamic. Yes she was anxious throughout the film (initially) but it seemed that the only reason the drawn out beginning scene with her family was there was to visually disturb us. All of the characters, who were are supposed to believe to be intellectual, are extremely stupid and one dimensional. And on top of that it was so predictable. They were literally spelling things out for us. How am I going to be scared when I know exactly what is going to happen? The bear, the pubic hair, ALL of the deaths in the order they happened. The movie was pretty. And it seemed like in the first half they tried harder than the second. The scene transitions were cool and I liked how some scenes were shot using mirrors to show two sides of the conversation. They felt long at times but I didn"t mind at first because I thought it was all going to pay off. But it didn"t. The cult scene were WAY too long. Like okay, we get it. This is a group of weird people. But it was dragged on forever. So much of it could have been cut out. This movie could have been 90 mins long and we wouldn"t have lost anything important. Except maybe the foreshadowing that beat me over the head. Dani had a friend in the beginning of the movie. Who suddenly was forgotten about and all she had was Chris" friends. Anyway I could go on and on but I"m kind of glad you didn"t like this as much as everyone else either. Except I would have given it an F.
